Planes Fire and Rescue: Piston Peak Air Attack

And so it begins. 

My friend Rebecca and I were on a roll with sketching these the night we saw the film and yesterday. Today I finally got one of the sets colored.

We're starting off with the Piston Peak Air Attack team.

Cabbie wasn't my favorite to draw of the bunch... because we did not see a lot of him in the film. The most he does is speak a few lines, drops off the smoke jumpers, and just goes back to base to rest. Not a lot of character interaction with him. As for design wise, hair cut from the army, and reason for the jeans... unlike his fellow aerial fighters Cabbie has an air craft shell he uses to carry the Smoke Jumpers to their destinations and doesn't need the extra protection since he's got a plane to protect him from heat and getting burned. So he's very simple the way he dresses cause he doesn't need to do a lot.

Dipper has gone through quite a few design changes since I did these -> aileen-rose.deviantart.com/art… but we still got the blondie I had in mind. Rebecca suggested olive-ish skin tone for her and it came out nice. Paint job transferred over nicely into her fire suit. As for how she carries water and fire retardant she has gadgets that allow that. Also, a difference here they have fire retardant grenades they throw down, so yeah you better get it right. 

Blade I had his face nailed before I did this along with Windlifter's -> aileen-rose.deviantart.com/art… Unlike Dipper and Dusty, his hat has a visor that slides down acting as goggles for him and a radar. Being a helicopter Mechanid he does not need to build up speed to take off, he just gets off the ground and flies off. Just like Dipper, he has gadgets that allow him to carry water and fire retardant. And as for his cables, he has a claw machine he hooks on to him that allows him to pick up things. Think like a crane game claw, but instead it actually works.

Windlifter was a bit harder since I knew he was gonna be big in build. I didn't draw him with goggles since I don't think he wears them all the time. He only wears them when he's on duty. Much like his plane self, he carries a heavy load of fire retardant with a giant container he hooks on to himself and then bombs away. 

Other notes. They do have masks they wear when on duty so keep them from breathing in smoke and such. Just didn't draw it here. Their gadgets and harnesses and such weren't drawn here either, but I will draw them out in scenes once I start getting thing ironed out.
