Of the Heavens and the Sea

This was the first thing I worked on in the stream.

And this is what happens when you want to redesign stuff due to rewrites and all that fun stuff.

The original concept was spurred when I discovered my friend Storm137's story Heritage which was roughly three years ago now. I drew her Merman Derek and well it just sparked from there. (It's... kind of how we met. Funny no?) Anyways, reason it caught my attention in the first place was because of the similarity to my story, Miracle Feathers. Mainly the biggest similarity was how both stories main concepts were based around the Healing Touch. It was complete coincidence. She did not mean to have her story similar to mine. It just happened. Besides, it brought us together as friends.

So... what happened within three years to make this picture look so different from its predecessor?

Well:

- First thing that happened was my style changed. I got better at anatomy and learned a lot about different kinds of shading.
- I redesigned the Merfolk with my friend Rebecca. Gave them new markings, reworked their tales, and well again... learned what anatomy was.
- I also redesigned the Miracle Maker's garb since... the clothes I did give them was kind of insulting to what they stand of. So Derek got to be the base for the outfit. I'm pretty happy about it.
- Finally, wing change for Derek. The energy wings were fun, but solid wings seem more suitable. Just they glow and are blue.

So yeah. I think I improved. Your guys' thoughts?
